My Recommendation: L.P. - Into The Wild

Today’s recommendation comes from New York City, NY by this singer, songwriter who is well accomplished in the trade but not very well known to the general masses, but thankfully now because of an ad by Citi Bank she has broken through to the masses and caught on like wild fire, she is Laura Pergolizzi and goes by her initials L.P.

Her mother was a classically trained opera singer, which kinda explains the vastness of her vocal range, she can be fierce and on top of her lungs and then in the next verse can be vulnerable and sweetly melodic. She started back when she was in her teens and after going through several bands in high school she joined the band Lionfish for a while after which she went solo.

In 2006 she appeared on the SXSW and right away started a bidding war, eventually signing onto Island Def Jam records, but left them because of artistic differences and later signed onto SoBe Entertainment. She has written music for the likes of Rihanna, Christina Aguilera & Heidi Montag.

The song I’m recommending, Into The Wild comes from her upcoming yet to be named album, you must have heard of it on TV in the Citi Bank ad which created a lot of buzz since the day it aired and google was flooded with search queries about her. I love how the song starts with this sweet whistling melody and all of a sudden bursts into this loud chorus, her vocal range is amazing and this songs showcases it perfectly, and by the way is it just me or you guys hear some Melissa Etheridge too in this song especially in the verses.
