The Sounds - Hope You're Happy Now

Today’s recommendation comes from this Swedish Indie Rock band The Sounds, which reminds me a lot of the Blondie days, fronted by this powerhouse of a woman Maja Ivarsson, the band was formed by classmates Felix, Maja, Johan & Fredrik back in 1998, the band revolves around Maja and her larger than life stage persona.
Standing tall at 6’-1” she commands attention with her cocky swagger, loud vocals and electrifying stage performances, and doesn’t really need amplifiers to rock out a crowd. They have been compared to Blondie and some similar acts of the era with similar music styles but in my opinions the similarities only go as far as the music styles, Debbie Harry while still one of my personal favorites from that era, doesn’t really match the swagger, the attitude Maja channels in her performances, she made her ambitions clear, claiming
"I want to be the best female vocalist around...of at least this century".
They are known to put a rocking show so if you are a fan of synthesizer heavy blondie-esque music of the 80’s do see them you won’t regret it, they belt out really good New Wave, synth heavy hits one after another.
Today’s recommendation comes from their debut album Living In America which ironically was recorded in Stockholm, I like the synth based anthemic rock sound of the song, her vocals just like in every other song by them are very strong the base line is also pretty catchy, I’ll put up one live performance here, if you wanna see some more, do checkout the Facebook feed, here you go
