Doves - Jetstream

Today’s recommendation comes from a small town in Cheshire, England called Wilmslow by the band Doves, the band consists of brothers Jez and Andy Williams, Jimi Goodwin, and one unofficial member Martin Rebelski. They started off back in the mid 80’s as part of a dance combo Sub Sub to limited success, after taking several years off they returned back in 1998 as Doves.
Since then they have released four critically acclaimed and commercially successful studio albums, today’s recommendation Jetstream comes from their fourth album Kingdom Of Rust, the song was crafted as an homage to the Ridley Scott classic Blade Runner, here’s what they said about it,
“Being fans of the Vangelis film score, ‘Blade Runner’, we always wanted to write an imaginary song for the closing credits on Ridley Scott’s classic… It’s called Jetstream…”
I love the slow progression, the smooth grooves, the space rock sound of the song, the mellowed down vocals with the simple guitar solo in the middle in conjunction with the base drum and the keyboards peppered over it, I think if you are a fan of progressive rock you will definitely love it, I will throw in a couple of live performances in the post, for dance or house fans there is a pretty decent remix of this song, you can check it out in the Facebook Feed, here’s the song
