Morcheeba - Easier Said Than Done

So far so good, the response to the mellow stuff is pretty decent, I'm glad you guys are enjoying these songs, and in that vein today’s recommendation comes from London, England by the trio Morcheeba, which revolves around the talents of multi-instrumentalist brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey, and beautifully utilizes the vocals of Skye Edwards to unearth gems such as today’s recommendation.
Back in the 90s, the Godfrey brothers met Skye in a party and recruited her as the bands vocalist. They primarily focus their music on Trip-Hop with instrumentation based on Pianos, Electric Guitars and DJ Scratching, however they also delve into some Pop, Rock, Electronic and R&B music from time to time. The brothers parted ways with Skye back in 2003 and released two albums without her, which failed to garner any traction with the fans, so they reformed the band back to the original lineup in 2010 and released their latest album which is doing pretty good so far. In all Morcheeba have released seven studio albums of which two were without Skye, here’s what Ross Godfrey said about the breakup
“We got pretty sick of each other. We had been on the road for about ten years. It was really a weird time as the music industry was also falling apart. Throughout the whole time we weren’t working with Skye we had been thinking it would be great to have her back at some point and make a really great record. … I bumped into her on the street in London. I hadn’t seen her in a really long time, so it was a bit of a shock. If we had planned to meet I think we would have been quite nervous. We decided we should go for dinner. I invited Paul over from France. We just basically got drunk over dinner, and chatted. We had a couple of brutally honest chats about what had happened in the past, and what would hopefully happen in the future and everybody felt positive.”
The song I’m recommending, Easier Said Than Done, comes from their latest album. Blood Like Lemonade. It’s a song about letting oneself go, after a bad experience in life, here’s what Paul and Skye said about it
“On Easier Said Than Done, I imagined a girl hanging on for dear life on a cliff but when she looks down she realizes she's only a couple of feet off the ground”
She gave me the concept that it was about somebody hanging on and not wanting to let go but not being far from the ground. I interpreted this as her own fears about rejoining the group.”
I love the calm serene vocals, the smooth composition of the song, how the song just flows and the drum line ties with the guitars in the chorus, I thoroughly enjoyed it, here’s the song
