Today’s instrumental comes from a British composer, if you ever paid any attention to the film scores in the last 15 years his name should be no stranger to your ears, in addition to being a composer he is an orchestrator, a conductor and a music producer and if you haven’t guessed it yet he is Harry Gregson-Williams.
Started off as a music teacher in Surrey, England, went on to compose the musical scores of over sixty movies and a handful games too, the likes of which include The Rock, As Good As It Gets, Enemy Of The State, Armageddon, Chicken Run, Shrek series, Spy Game, The Rundown, The Chronicles Of Narnia series, Kingdom Of Heaven, Déjà Vu, X-Men series, etc. etc. etc.
The piece I’m recommending today is from the movie Spy Game, I guess to stand out while being played when Robert Redford and Brad Pitt are on the screen and that also at the same time is an accomplishment enough, but this piece kept ringing in my head even after that scene was over and I had to google it right away. I think the best thing about this composition is how spot on it is for the scene it was written, it almost feels like a part of conversation between Redford and Pitt and sort of accelerates the scene, musically speaking I love how he has amalgamated electronic reverberations with guitar riffs, a treat to the ears…
