Steve Vai - For The Love Of God

Today’s recommendation seems kinda redundant as I’m sure most of you have already heard of this masterpiece before, but I think a big chunk of the generation growing up on auto-tuned vocals and pre-programmed power pop music around the three chords have no idea of the great music created just two decades ago.
Anyhow today’s recommendation comes from Steve Vai, three times Grammy winning legendary rock guitarist, started off as a music transcriptionist for Frank Zappa, took guitar lessons from Joe Satriani (best guitarist to walk this earth, in my opinion), kicked off his own solo career in 1983 and has created many a great compositions since then.
Today’s recommendation For The Love Of God is from his Grammy winning second album Passion and Warfare, he composed this masterpiece on the fourth day of a ten day fast and said the following about the experience
“I do try to push myself into relatively altered states of consciousness. Because in those states you can come up with things that are unique even for yourself".
David Coverdale of Whitesnake made a guest appearance in it, speaking the phrase Walking the fine line ... between Pagan ... and Christian” but it was only included in the audio version, in the video the phrase was changed to “We may be human … But we are still animals” and I’m not sure if it’s still Coverdale in the video or not. Anyhow I don’t think I can say anything about this piece that hasn’t already been said so without further ado, here it is
