My Recommendation: Broken Bells

Today’s song comes from “Broken Bells” a duo, comprising of Brian Burton better known by his stage name “Danger Mouse”, he has produced and written a lot of stuff, won a Grammy has been part of such famous acts as Gnarls Barkley, Gorillaz and produced for some major names which include Beck and Jay Z to name a few, the other half of the duo is James Mercer who is the front man for the Grammy nominated indie band The Shins, the song I’m recommending is “The High Road”, the composition is on par with any of the acclaimed work done by Burton, the lyrics are smart and vague enough that I have read some people calling the song to be about drug addiction while some saying that it’s about the fake war on drugs and better yet some saying the drugs are just a metaphor and it’s about the emptiness of one’s life, not surprisingly the video is also very vague and doesn’t gives any hints at the thought process of the lyricist or the composer, nonetheless this shouldn’t take away anything from the song as I think this song is a breath of fresh air in today’s bleak music scene, anyhow you figure it out and let me know what you think.
